Chinese Tesla Rival BYD Intent To Invest in Pakistan

A delegation from BYD Company Limited, a prominent Chinese conglomerate, recently engaged in discussions with Dr. Sohail Rajput, the Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI) in Pakistan. The delegation, led by Cai Xiao Xu, Head of Dealer Development (South Asia), and Lei Jian, Country Head (Pakistan), conveyed the company’s strong interest in making substantial investments in Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) sector.

As a Fortune 500 company and a global leader in EV manufacturing, BYD Company has established its presence across four major industries, namely automobile, rail transit, new energy, and electronics.

The current visit of the BYD delegation to Pakistan, facilitated by BOI, is exploratory in nature and involves crucial meetings with potential local partners. Dr. Sohail Rajput, in his capacity as the Secretary of BOI, expressed a warm welcome to the company’s interest in the Pakistani market, underscoring the significance of electric vehicles in the country.

Furthermore, Dr. Rajput assured the BYD delegation of the steadfast commitment of the Government of Pakistan to facilitate and support foreign investors.
