The District Education Authority (DEA) Rawalpindi has issued show-cause notices to 14 private educational institutions for holding classes during the officially notified summer vacation.
According to the notice issued by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) DEA, the institutions continued regular academic activities despite the summer vacation schedule announced by the Punjab School Education Department.
The officially notified summer vacation runs from May 22 to August 23, 2026. Private schools were required to follow the schedule and suspend regular academic activities during the break.
The DEA said the institutions violated official directives by continuing classes during the notified vacation period. The schools could now face administrative action under regulations governing private educational institutions.
The authority has directed the principals or authorized representatives of the institutions to appear before the CEO DEA for a personal hearing. They have also been asked to submit written explanations along with relevant supporting documents.
The notices require the institutions to explain why they continued academic activities despite the government’s instructions. Their responses will be considered before further action is taken.
The DEA warned that institutions failing to appear before the authority or provide satisfactory explanations could face ex parte proceedings.
Such proceedings may be conducted based on the available record if the concerned institutions fail to respond to the notices.
The education authority has also directed all private schools in Rawalpindi to immediately stop ongoing classes during the officially notified summer vacation.
The action comes as authorities continue monitoring compliance with the provincial summer vacation schedule. Private educational institutions have been reminded that government directives regarding school timings and vacations must be followed.
Parents and students are also expected to receive clarity from their respective institutions regarding any academic activities planned during the remaining days of the summer break.
The DEA is expected to review the responses submitted by the 14 institutions before deciding whether further administrative action is required.
