Authorities Put Districts on High Alert
Punjab Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal reviewed the rainfall situation and drainage arrangements in Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Sialkot and other affected districts.
He directed the concerned Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) offices to remain on high alert and ensure that rainwater is removed from affected areas without delay.
Officials were instructed to use all available resources to drain water from low-lying locations, where heavy rainfall can quickly lead to urban flooding and disruption for residents.
Mengal also directed WASA authorities to keep drainage machinery and field teams fully mobilized throughout the rainfall spell.
Field Staff Directed to Monitor Situation
The Punjab government has instructed relevant officers to remain in the field and closely monitor drainage operations.
Authorities are particularly focused on low-lying areas and locations where accumulated rainwater could create difficulties for residents and commuters.
The heavy rainfall comes amid an active monsoon season in Punjab, with several districts experiencing significant downpours during the latest spell.
Officials are expected to continue monitoring weather and drainage conditions and take necessary measures to prevent prolonged water accumulation.
The latest rainfall figures highlight the intensity of the current monsoon spell, particularly in Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Attock and Gujrat.
With more rain possible in different parts of the province, authorities have emphasized preparedness, rapid drainage and continuous field monitoring to minimize disruption and protect affected communities.
