[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Khalil Hashmi, a seasoned diplomat, has been appointed as the new Ambassador of Pakistan to China. Over the weekend, Hashmi arrived in Beijing and officially assumed his responsibilities as Pakistan’s envoy to China.
Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by Zhang Maoming, Deputy Director General of the Asia Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He takes over the position from Ambassador Moin ul Haque, who retired earlier this month.
In his inaugural official engagement, Ambassador Hashmi presented a copy of his credentials to Hong Lei, Director General of the Protocol Department. He expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him by the Chinese side, aligning with the longstanding tradition between the two nations.

Reflecting on his previous tenure in Beijing from 2008-2010, Ambassador Hashmi expressed his determination to further strengthen the already robust relationship between Pakistan and China. Director General Hong conveyed best wishes to Ambassador Hashmi for a successful tenure and assured him of full support.
Ambassador Hashmi brings a wealth of experience, with 29 years in both bilateral and multilateral relations. Before his assignment in China, he served as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva. Additionally, he has held positions at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to New York, including Deputy Permanent Representative.
His diplomatic career began at the Pakistan Embassy in Copenhagen from 1999 to 2002. In Islamabad, Ambassador Hashmi has served in various capacities, including Director General of the United Nations, European Region, and Arms Control Divisions, as well as Director of South Asia, India, and Disarmament Directorates.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
