Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) officially came under new management on Monday after control of the national carrier was transferred to PIA Equity Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established by an Arif Habib Group-led consortium following the airline’s privatization.
The new owners said the transition marks the beginning of a new phase focused on modernizing the airline, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing passenger services.
PIA Equity Ltd announced that it will inject Rs. 125 billion in fresh equity to fully capitalize the airline. The investment will support fleet modernization, service enhancements, and efforts to restore PIA’s competitiveness in regional and international markets.
The chairman of PIA Equity Ltd said the new management understands that public confidence cannot be earned through a change in ownership alone and must instead be built through consistent service quality and operational performance.
The consortium added that it is committed to improving service standards while preserving PIA’s legacy as Pakistan’s national flag carrier.
