Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum Assumes Permanent Role as Executive Director of HEC

Renowned education expert Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum has officially assumed the role of permanent Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission, marking the conclusion of an interim arrangement that had been in place since October 2018.

Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum, formerly the Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University and Allama Iqbal Open University, is celebrated for his proficiency in education and administration.

The appointment process involved a thorough evaluation by a search committee, which considered 18 candidates. Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum emerged as the top candidate, securing 72 points and garnering widespread recognition as the most qualified individual for the position of Executive Director.

The search committee, comprising the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Acting ED, Secretary of Science and Technology, Federal Education Secretary, and a prominent education expert, conducted a meticulous review before recommending Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum for the position. The HEC Board, after careful consideration of the candidates, formally approved his appointment.

Anticipations within educational circles are optimistic about the positive impact that Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum’s leadership, under the guidance of HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, will bring to the Higher Education Commission. This move is seen as a significant step towards further progress and advancements in the realm of higher education.
