A blackout of telephone and internet services in the Gaza Strip on Saturday left its inhabitants isolated, making it nearly impossible to contact loved ones, request ambulances, or communicate with colleagues outside the area. Israel had severed all communication channels in Gaza in preparation for its air and ground offensive.

Since October 7, more than 7,700 Palestinians have lost their lives, and thousands have been injured in the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.
