In Islamabad, a special court has granted post-arrest bail to former minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar in the cipher case on Thursday.
Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain presided over the bail plea and approved Asad Umar’s bail, requiring surety bonds of Rs50,000. Asad Umar, a prominent PTI member and close associate of the party chairman, personally appeared in a special court in the federal capital to secure bail.

During the Thursday hearing, a prosecutor from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) informed the court that there was no compelling evidence against Asad Umar in the case, thus making his arrest unnecessary.
Asad Umar had resigned from his position as Secretary General of PTI in late May, condemning the attacks on May 9. However, he continued to face multiple cases, including one related to US cipher.
Meanwhile, former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan and his second-in-command Shah Mahmood Qureshi remain in custody in the Cipher case until September 26. The top leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are facing charges under the Official Secrets Act.
