[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]After a protracted illness, Dr. Seemin Jamali, the former director of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), died on Saturday. Her passing has been confirmed by her family, leaving a legacy of exceptional service and devotion to the medical industry. Dr. Jamali was regarded as the “iron lady of the JPMC” and made outstanding contributions to the nation’s healthcare system.
Dr. Jamali, who was born in Karachi in 1961, has devoted her life to helping people. She completed her house employment at Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, formerly known as Civil Hospital Karachi, after receiving her medical degree from Nawabshah Medical College in 1986. She became the longest-serving Grade-21 executive director at JPMC, the city’s largest tertiary care hospital, because to her remarkable qualities and unshakable dedication.
The emergency department of the JPMC, where Dr. Jamali diligently worked for almost three decades, became known by her name. Numerous lives were saved thanks to her tremendous knowledge and caring nature. More than 200 bomb explosion victims, gunshot victims, accident victims, and patients impacted by building collapses and aeroplane accidents were all attended to by her.
The hundreds of individuals who sought medical attention in the government hospital’s emergency department benefited from Dr. Jamali’s unselfish commitment.

Dr. Jamali received a colon cancer diagnosis in November 2020. Her health issues didn’t stop her from working while receiving treatment, and she eventually beat the condition.
