The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has temporarily stopped authorities from taking disciplinary action against sleeper coach operators.

The order applies to sleeper coach operators operating on motorways. The court issued the interim relief after operators challenged regulatory measures.

Justice Mohammad Asif heard the petition filed by sleeper coach operators. They also challenged traffic challans issued against their buses.

The IHC suspended three directives issued by the relevant authorities. These directives were issued on June 18, July 14, and September 4.

The suspension will remain effective until the next hearing of the case. During this period, authorities cannot start disciplinary proceedings against the affected operators.

The case concerns regulatory measures introduced for sleeper coaches. The operators have challenged the legality of these measures before the court.

According to the petition, authorities allegedly acted without lawful authority. The operators have also raised objections over changes involving safety measures.

The petitioners claim that certain safety measures were withdrawn by the authorities. They have also challenged traffic challans issued against their sleeper coaches.

The operators have asked the court to declare the disputed measures unlawful. They have also sought relief against related actions taken by authorities.

The IHC has not issued a final ruling on the legal dispute. The latest order is interim and will remain applicable until further proceedings.

The court has directed the concerned authorities to respond to the petition. They must also submit detailed comments regarding the operators’ claims.

The responses will help the court examine the issues raised in the petition. The case will then proceed based on the submissions from all concerned parties.

The IHC will resume hearing the matter in the last week of October. Until then, the suspended directives will remain subject to the court’s interim order.

The development provides temporary relief to sleeper coach operators facing regulatory action. However, the final outcome will depend on further proceedings before the court.
