Canada has updated processing times for temporary residence applications. The latest figures show mixed changes across several application categories.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated the figures on September 16, 2026. The update covers work permits, study permits, visitor visas, and Super Visas.
The figures include applicants from Pakistan, India, Nigeria, the United States, and the Philippines. They also cover certain applications submitted from within Canada.
For Pakistani applicants, work permit processing remains unchanged. The current estimated processing time is eight weeks.
Study permit processing has also remained stable for applicants from Pakistan. The estimated waiting period is seven weeks.
However, visitor visa processing has become slightly longer. The estimated wait increased from 73 days to 75 days in one week.
The largest change for Pakistani applicants concerns the Super Visa category. Processing time dropped from 132 days to 95 days.
This represents a reduction of 37 days compared with the previous update. The change provides a shorter estimated waiting period for Pakistani Super Visa applicants.
The latest figures show that processing times can change between weekly updates. Applicants should therefore check the latest IRCC information before making plans.
For other countries, the changes have been different. Super Visa processing in the United States increased from 66 days to 116 days.
Applicants from the Philippines also saw an increase. Their estimated Super Visa wait rose from 64 days to 90 days.
India recorded a smaller increase in Super Visa processing time. Its estimated wait moved from 69 days to 70 days.
Nigeria also experienced an increase. The estimated processing period rose from 44 days to 46 days.
Work permit processing remained at 10 weeks for applicants from India and Nigeria. Applicants from the Philippines continue to face an estimated wait of seven weeks.
The estimated work permit processing time for US applicants increased. It moved from two weeks to three weeks in the latest update.
Applications submitted from within Canada also showed a small improvement. Work permit processing decreased from 110 days to 109 days.
Study permit processing remained unchanged for applicants from India and the Philippines. Their estimated wait remains five weeks.
US applicants continue to face an estimated six-week study permit processing period. Nigeria saw its wait increase from nine weeks to 10 weeks.
Applications submitted from within Canada also experienced a change. Study permit processing increased from seven weeks to eight weeks.
Visitor visa processing times showed smaller changes across several locations. India’s estimated wait decreased from 31 days to 29 days.
The United States also recorded an improvement. Its visitor visa processing time fell from 18 days to 16 days.
For applications submitted from within Canada, the wait remained at 11 days. Nigeria, however, saw its estimated wait increase from 84 days to 87 days.
The Philippines also recorded a visitor visa increase. Its estimated processing time rose from 19 days to 21 days.
The latest Canada processing update highlights differences between application types and applicant locations. Processing times remain estimates and can change with future IRCC updates.
