Babar says Pakistan are fully prepared for the West Indies Test series. The captain backs his squad after two months of training ahead of the ICC World Test Championship.
Pakistan will begin their two-match Test series against the West Indies on Saturday, 25 July, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, with captain Babar expressing full confidence in his team’s ability to perform. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, making it an important assignment for Pakistan as they look to strengthen their position in the competition.

Speaking to the media before the opening Test, Babar said the squad has been preparing for the West Indies and England tours over the past two months. He praised the players for their hard work, saying the team has focused on improving fitness, skills, and overall match readiness.
The Pakistan captain also spoke about returning to the leadership role. Babar said he feels motivated after being entrusted with the captaincy once again and plans to use the experience gained during his previous tenure. He added that there is no extra pressure on him and that his main focus is making decisions that benefit Pakistan cricket.
Babar also expressed disappointment over Abdullah Fazal’s injury, which ruled the talented batter out of the Test series. He described Fazal as an outstanding young player and said it was unfortunate that he suffered the injury during a practice session. According to the latest medical report, the opener will miss both matches against the West Indies.
Despite the setback, Babar believes Pakistan have a balanced squad with an ideal mix of experienced and young cricketers. He said the combination has created a confident atmosphere within the team and everyone is determined to produce positive results.
Discussing the playing conditions, Babar noted that recent rainfall has left the pitch under covers for several days. He expects the surface to favour fast bowlers, making disciplined batting and quality pace bowling crucial during the series.
Pakistan completed a productive four-day tour match in Port of Spain as part of their preparations. Azan Awais and Babar both scored centuries in the first innings, while Shan Masood and Abdullah Fazal registered half-centuries. In the second innings, Awais Zafar and Salman Ali Agha also impressed with valuable fifties. Fast bowler Mohammad Ali starred with the ball, claiming five wickets against the West Indies Select XI.
The second and final Test of the series will be played from 2 to 6 August at Queen’s Park Oval. With thorough preparations behind them and confidence running high, Babar will be aiming to lead Pakistan to a winning start in the crucial World Test Championship campaign.
