Pakistan Launches National Immigration and Welfare Policy 2026

The federal government has launched the National Immigration and Welfare Policy 2026 to improve Pakistan’s labor migration system and provide better support for citizens seeking employment abroad. The new policy focuses on safer migration, stronger protection for workers, improved skills development, and greater engagement with overseas Pakistanis.

Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain announced the policy during its launch ceremony. He described the National Immigration initiative as an important milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s migration framework and improving opportunities for workers in international labor markets.

According to the minister, the government remains committed to protecting the rights and welfare of Pakistanis working overseas. He said the policy has been designed to make migration safer, more organized, and more beneficial for both workers and the national economy.

The National Immigration policy encourages safe and legal migration while expanding access to internationally recognized skills. It also aims to protect workers from exploitation, improve services for overseas Pakistanis, and strengthen support for migrants returning to Pakistan.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain said Pakistan must prepare its workforce for the changing demands of global labor markets. He explained that workers need modern skills to compete successfully in different countries. The government wants Pakistan to become a leading source of skilled professionals for international employers.

The minister said the policy provides a clear roadmap for developing a more competitive workforce. It focuses on giving workers the training, knowledge, and legal protections needed before they travel abroad. Officials believe these measures will improve employment opportunities while helping workers build successful careers.

Another important objective of the National Immigration strategy is to strengthen engagement with the Pakistani diaspora. The government plans to improve communication with overseas Pakistanis and recognize their valuable contribution to the country’s economy through remittances and professional expertise.

The policy also includes measures to support the reintegration of returning migrants. Officials said workers who come back to Pakistan should be able to use the experience and skills they gained abroad. This approach is expected to benefit both the workers and the country’s economic development.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain praised overseas Pakistanis for their continued contribution to national progress. He said their welfare, safety, and protection remain among the government’s highest priorities. He added that the new policy reflects the government’s long-term commitment to supporting Pakistani workers throughout their migration journey.
