Security forces killed 10 terrorists and arrested two female suicide bombers along with a facilitator during a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted over the past 48 hours in Balochistan’s Sorab and Mastung districts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were launched on the basis of intelligence reports regarding the presence of militants in the two districts. The joint operations targeted what the ISPR described as terrorists and facilitators linked to Fitna al Hindustan and Fitna al Kharij.
The military said security forces first carried out an operation in Sorab, where troops engaged terrorists hiding in their hideouts. During the exchange of fire, seven militants were killed.
A separate intelligence-based operation was later conducted in Mastung, where security forces eliminated three more terrorists after an intense engagement.
The Mastung operation also resulted in the arrest of two female suicide bombers and one facilitator. According to the ISPR, the three suspects were associated with Fitna al Hindustan and were planning terrorist activities in the region.
During the operations, security personnel recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), indicating preparations for future attacks.
The military said sanitisation operations are continuing in the affected areas to ensure that any remaining militants or facilitators are located and eliminated. Security forces are conducting thorough searches to prevent terrorists from regrouping or escaping.
The ISPR reiterated the armed forces’ commitment to eliminating terrorism from the country and emphasized that counterterrorism operations will continue without interruption.
“The relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam will continue at full pace to eliminate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the military’s statement said.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in intelligence-based operations in recent months as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle militant networks operating in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials have repeatedly stated that terrorist organizations supported by foreign elements will continue to face decisive action, while intelligence-led operations remain a key part of the country’s broader counterterrorism strategy.
The latest operations highlight the military’s continued focus on targeting militant hideouts, disrupting planned attacks, and preventing terrorist groups from establishing safe havens in sensitive regions.
