Murree Police have issued a travel advisory as thousands of tourists continue to visit the popular hill station during the summer holidays, urging motorists to exercise extra caution due to monsoon rains and reduced visibility.
The district administration and traffic police have been placed on high alert to manage the growing influx of visitors and ensure smooth traffic movement throughout the city. Additional police personnel have been deployed at major roads and intersections to assist tourists and prevent congestion.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr. Raza Tanveer, ongoing monsoon rainfall and dense fog have significantly reduced visibility at several locations, causing slow-moving traffic on key routes.
Despite the challenging weather conditions, authorities confirmed that all major roads leading to Murree remain open, except the Rawalpindi-Murree-Kohala (RMK) Road, where road carpeting work is currently in progress. Tourists have been advised to use alternative routes where necessary and plan their journeys accordingly.
The police have urged visitors to strictly follow the instructions of traffic wardens and district police officials to help maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure public safety.
Motorists have also been advised to drive at reduced speeds during rainfall and fog, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and avoid overtaking in areas with poor visibility.
Authorities further warned drivers against unnecessary roadside parking, saying improperly parked vehicles can create traffic bottlenecks and increase the risk of accidents, particularly during the busy tourist season.
Police emphasized the importance of obeying traffic laws, avoiding reckless driving, and remaining patient while traveling through the hill station. They said these precautionary measures are essential to prevent accidents and ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for all tourists during the ongoing monsoon season.
The travel advisory comes as Murree experiences a surge in visitors seeking relief from the summer heat, with authorities continuing to monitor traffic conditions and weather forecasts closely.
