Indian Army Trolled Over Alleged Video Game Footage in Promo Video

The Indian Army has come under social media scrutiny after users claimed a promotional video shared by its Southern Command featured footage from a video game instead of a real anti-aircraft vehicle.

The clip quickly went viral, with many users mocking the alleged editing mistake and calling on the military to remove or correct the video. However, the authenticity of these claims has not been independently verified.

Military experts note that similar incidents have occurred in the past, with governments and media organizations around the world mistakenly using footage from military simulation games in official content or news reports.

They also point out that advances in gaming graphics and artificial intelligence have made it increasingly difficult to distinguish real combat footage from gameplay. Titles such as Arma 3 have frequently been misused to create misleading videos that later circulate online as authentic military footage.

Experts advise viewers to verify military-related videos through official government sources or verified social media accounts before sharing them, as manipulated and AI-generated content has become increasingly common.

At the time of publication, the Indian Army had not issued an official response to the online criticism or confirmed whether the footage shown in the promotional video was authentic.
