According to the PDMA, widespread monsoon showers are likely in several districts, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, and Bhakkar.

PDMA Director General said that, following the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, commissioners, deputy commissioners, and all relevant government departments have been directed to remain on high alert. The provincial control room and district emergency operation centres are also functioning around the clock to monitor the weather situation and respond quickly to emergencies.

Authorities have instructed Rescue 1122, WASA, and other emergency agencies to keep staff, vehicles, and machinery ready for immediate deployment. Special attention has been given to ensuring the rapid drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas and locations prone to waterlogging.

The PDMA has also issued a public advisory, urging residents to take extra precautions during the monsoon spell. Citizens have been advised to avoid standing near electricity poles, hanging power lines, old buildings, and mud houses that may become unsafe during heavy rainfall. Parents have also been asked to keep children away from flooded streets and accumulated rainwater. In case of any emergency, people can contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.

Meanwhile, several parts of Punjab received rainfall during the past 24 hours. Narowal recorded the highest rainfall at 51mm. Other cities also experienced showers, including Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Sialkot, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, and Mandi Bahauddin.

The PDMA has advised the public to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid unnecessary travel, and continue following official weather updates until the current monsoon spell weakens.
