The Punjab government has further expanded its Electric Bus network by introducing services on 13 additional routes across six districts, bringing cleaner and more modern public transport to more communities throughout the province.
According to an official statement, the latest phase covers Khanewal, Khushab, Bhakkar, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad. The initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader plan to improve public transportation while promoting environmentally friendly travel options.
Officials said that around 400 Electric Bus vehicles are already operating across 18 districts in Punjab. The government also plans to significantly increase the fleet by adding 1,500 more electric buses in the coming months to improve connectivity across the province.
In addition, another 212 Electric Bus units have already reached Pakistan and will soon be deployed in 20 more districts, further expanding access to affordable and sustainable public transport.
As part of the new rollout, Khushab has received 15 electric buses. These buses will operate on routes connecting the General Bus Stand with Girot Chowk, Mitha Tiwana, and Mangowal, providing better travel options for local residents.
In Khanewal, nine buses have been introduced on the Khanewal–Jahanian and Kabirwala routes. Meanwhile, Bhakkar has also received nine buses, serving passengers between the General Bus Stand and Darya Khan, as well as the General Bus Stand and Behal.
Residents of Attock can now use the new buses on the POF Sanjwal–Hazro and Hakimabad–Attock Khurd routes. In Mandi Bahauddin, the new service connects Kathiala Sheikhan with Rasul Village, along with the College Chowk–Manoo Chak route.
Meanwhile, Hafizabad has welcomed nine buses that will run between Jinnah Chowk (Inter-City) and Ghora Chowk–Jalalpur Bhattian, improving daily commuting for thousands of passengers.
The expansion reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to developing a modern, efficient, and eco-friendly transport system. By increasing the number of Electric Bus services across more districts, the province aims to reduce pollution, improve public mobility, and offer safer and more comfortable travel for commuters. The project is expected to continue growing as additional buses become operational in the coming months.
