Punjab to Expand Free MDCAT Coaching Centers for Students

The Punjab government is considering a major expansion of its free MDCAT preparation program by setting up six additional coaching centers in government colleges across the province. The initiative aims to support increasing numbers of students preparing for medical and dental college admissions.

According to officials, the new centers will be established in major divisional headquarters to improve access for aspiring medical students. The step is designed to ensure that students from different regions can benefit from free academic support and structured exam preparation.

The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Colleges has already submitted a formal proposal to the Higher Education Department for approval. Once approved, the expansion will significantly increase the reach of the province’s MDCAT support system.

Currently, 54 MDCAT preparation centers were operated across Punjab last year. Officials estimate that the average cost of running each center is around Rs100,000, making it a relatively cost-effective educational support initiative for students.

The program has been running for the past three years and has helped thousands of students prepare for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). It provides free coaching, academic guidance, and structured preparation material to candidates aiming for medical education.

Authorities are expected to launch new MDCAT preparation camps as early as next week, pending final approval from the Higher Education Department. Officials believe the expansion will further improve educational access and reduce financial barriers for students across Punjab.
