Complete Guide for Punjab Juvenile Permit Applications

The Punjab government has launched a Juvenile Permit facility for teenagers aged 16 to 18 years, providing a legal pathway for young individuals to ride motorcycles under specific conditions and safety regulations.

The initiative is designed to bring young riders into a monitored and regulated system, reducing the practice of underage motorcycle riding without official authorization. Through the Juvenile Permit program, eligible applicants can obtain permission to ride motorcycles while following strict rules set by the authorities.

Under the new policy, permit holders between the ages of 16 and 18 will only be allowed to ride motorcycles with engine capacities of up to 125cc. In addition, riders must not exceed a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour. Authorities have emphasized that adherence to traffic laws and safe driving practices will remain mandatory for all permit holders.

To obtain a Juvenile Permit, applicants must visit their nearest Driving Licence Centre accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The application process requires several documents, including a Smart Card or Form B, a copy of the parent or guardian’s CNIC, and one passport-size photograph. Applicants must also pay the prescribed fee and complete the required verification process.

The fee structure varies according to age. Applicants who are 16 years old are required to pay Rs1,000, while those aged 17 to 18 years will be charged Rs500.

Officials have clarified that the permit does not exempt riders from traffic regulations. Young motorcyclists must wear helmets, obey traffic signals, avoid reckless driving, and comply with all road safety laws. Violations of these rules may result in penalties or action under existing traffic regulations.

The government says the Juvenile Permit initiative aims to improve road safety while giving young riders a legal framework to operate motorcycles responsibly. By introducing age-specific restrictions and safety requirements, authorities hope to reduce accidents involving teenage riders and encourage responsible driving habits from an early age.
