Karachi Improves as Sea Breeze Returns, Reducing Heat Impact

The sea breeze has returned to Karachi on Saturday, bringing much-needed relief to residents after several days of intense heat and high humidity across the coastal city.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), southwesterly winds are currently blowing across the city at speeds of around 20 kilometers per hour, with occasional stronger gusts expected throughout the day. The Met Office has also forecast partly cloudy conditions for Karachi.

Despite the return of the sea breeze, weather conditions are still expected to remain hot and humid. Humidity levels have been recorded at around 72 percent, which continues to increase the heat index and makes the temperature feel higher than the actual reading.

Officials said the maximum temperature in Karachi is likely to remain between 35°C and 37°C. However, the inflow of cooler and moist air from the Arabian Sea is expected to reduce overall discomfort for residents compared to recent days.

Meteorologists explained that the sea breeze plays a vital role in regulating Karachi’s coastal climate. Its temporary disruption over the past few days contributed to rising temperatures and worsening humidity levels, leading to uncomfortable weather conditions across the city.

Health experts have advised citizens to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Authorities also urged vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, to remain cautious despite improving conditions.

With the return of the sea breeze, Karachi is expected to experience relatively more comfortable weather in the coming days, although hot and humid conditions are likely to persist intermittently.
