The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially announced summer holidays for public and private colleges, universities, and other higher education institutions across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Higher and Secondary Education Department, educational institutions located in the summer zone will remain closed from June 15 to August 31. The decision has been taken in view of the rising temperatures during the summer season and will apply to both government and privately managed institutions.
Officials stated that institutions situated in the winter zone will follow a different schedule. These colleges and universities will observe a one-month break from July 1 to July 31. The separate timetable has been introduced to accommodate the varying climatic conditions in different regions of the province.
The department confirmed that the summer holidays schedule covers all public and private universities, colleges, and higher education institutions operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Students and faculty members have been advised to follow the vacation plan issued by the authorities and their respective institutions.
However, the notification clarified that four-year BS degree programmes will continue according to the academic calendars approved by individual universities. Institutions offering such programmes may proceed with academic activities where necessary, in line with their existing schedules.
The department also emphasized that examinations will not be affected by the vacation announcement. All scheduled exams, including practical examinations, will be conducted on their planned dates. Students appearing in examinations have been advised to remain in contact with their institutions for any updates regarding exam arrangements.
The announcement of summer holidays provides relief to thousands of students and teachers across the province as temperatures continue to rise. Authorities hope the break will help ensure the well-being of students while allowing educational institutions to manage academic activities according to their approved calendars and examination schedules.
