The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is planning to introduce chairlifts, cable cars, and zip lines at three of the country’s busiest airports as part of a new initiative aimed at improving passenger convenience and modernizing airport facilities.
According to officials, the proposed transport systems will be installed at Jinnah International Airport, Allama Iqbal International Airport, and Islamabad International Airport. The project is designed to provide travelers with alternative ways of moving between airport terminals and parking areas.
The authority’s commercial wing has already issued a tender for the project and invited interested companies to submit bids. Officials said the initiative is currently in the planning stage, with proposals being sought from firms capable of developing and operating the transport systems.
Under the proposed arrangement, passengers will be able to use chairlifts, cable cars, and zip lines to travel between different sections of the airports. The facilities are intended to reduce walking distances and improve accessibility, particularly during peak travel periods.
Authorities believe the project could help enhance the overall passenger experience by offering faster movement across large airport premises. The plan is also expected to add a unique and modern feature to Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure.
The announcement comes as the PAA continues efforts to upgrade airport services and improve operational efficiency across the country. Recent initiatives have focused on infrastructure development, revenue generation, and modernization of airport facilities.
Officials described the proposed transport systems as a blend of practicality and innovation, aimed at making travel more convenient while introducing a distinctive experience for passengers using Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports.
