Food safety violations continue to surface across Pakistan, and authorities have now launched strict action against several well-known ice cream brands in Lahore. During recent inspections, officials discovered expired food items, poor storage methods, and unhygienic conditions at multiple outlets, raising serious concerns about public health standards.
Inspection teams carried out operations at different dessert chains across the city. At one outlet of Baskin-Robbins, officials reportedly recovered expired brownies that were being kept inside deep freezers along with regular ice cream products. Authorities viewed the practice as a major violation of food safety rules.
A branch of Sweet Creme was also sealed after inspection teams allegedly found expired food products and unsanitary conditions at the outlet. Videos circulating on social media showed officials examining the premises and identifying multiple hygiene-related violations during the operation.
Meanwhile, another popular dessert outlet, Jay Bees, was also shut down after authorities highlighted similar concerns regarding food safety and cleanliness standards. Clips from the inspections quickly spread online and triggered widespread public discussion.
The crackdown has once again highlighted concerns about food quality and hygiene practices even at famous food chains. Authorities stated that inspection campaigns will continue across Lahore and other cities to stop the sale of expired or unsafe food items and to ensure businesses comply with health regulations.
Separately, Sweet Creme had already faced criticism earlier this month after a controversial incident at its outlet in Bahria Town Phase 7 went viral on social media. Reports claimed a six-year-old child selling books on the streets visited the shop during intense heat and asked for ice cream or ice, which allegedly led to an argument with staff members.
The incident sparked heavy backlash online, with many social media users criticizing the alleged treatment of the child. Following public outrage, the company issued an apology, confirmed the removal of the staff member involved, and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy regarding inappropriate behavior.
