The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh warning about an intense heatwave expected to hit Sindh next week. The weather alert was released as temperatures continue to rise across different parts of Pakistan.
According to PMD, temperatures in Sindh may stay 4°C to 6°C above normal between May 25 and May 31. The department said several districts in interior Sindh could experience extremely hot weather during this period.
PMD warned that some areas may record temperatures close to 50°C. Weather experts said the heatwave is likely to affect most inland districts of the province. The situation may become difficult for outdoor workers, farmers, and elderly citizens.
The department advised people to avoid direct sunlight during daytime hours. Citizens were also asked to drink more water and limit unnecessary outdoor activities. Health experts often recommend staying indoors during peak afternoon hours in extreme heat conditions.
The PMD advisory highlighted that vulnerable groups may face serious health risks during the heatwave. Children, senior citizens, and people with existing medical conditions are expected to remain at higher risk.
Authorities may also increase monitoring efforts during the coming days. Emergency services are expected to stay alert in case temperatures rise further in affected districts.
Meanwhile, weather conditions in Punjab remain unstable due to an active rain system. Hot weather continues in several cities, including Lahore, despite chances of rain and dusty winds.
According to PMD, Lahore may experience strong winds during the afternoon and evening hours. Light rain is also expected in some parts of the city and nearby areas.
The minimum temperature in Lahore is likely to remain around 27°C. The maximum temperature may reach 40°C during the day. Weather officials said the rain system could provide temporary relief from the ongoing heat.
