Punjab Imposes 30-Day Ban on Activities Near Airports for Safety

The Government of Punjab has imposed a 30-day ban on several activities near Airports and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases across the province. The decision has been taken under Section 144 to ensure aviation safety.

According to an official order issued on May 19, the restrictions apply within a 13-kilometer radius of all Airports and PAF installations in Punjab. The step aims to reduce risks to flight operations and improve safety standards.

The order specifically prohibits pigeon homing activities near Airports. It also restricts the use of laser lights by hotels, malls, and commercial shops in the surrounding areas.

Officials said these activities can disturb flight paths and create hazards for aircraft. The government noted that such practices increase risks during landing and takeoff at busy Airports.

In addition, the throwing of meat or sadqa in open spaces, rooftops, and nearby areas has also been banned. Authorities explained that these actions attract birds, which can endanger aircraft safety.

The Punjab Home Department said the restrictions were introduced as an immediate preventive measure. The main goal is to protect public safety, lives, and property near Airports and aviation zones.

Officials added that bird strikes and visual interference remain serious concerns for aviation authorities. These issues can cause operational risks at both commercial and military Airports.

The ban has taken effect immediately and will remain in force for 30 days. During this period, authorities will monitor compliance strictly across all restricted zones.

Relevant departments have been directed to enforce the order without exception. Any violation of the ban will be dealt with under the law.

Security agencies and local administrations will work together to ensure implementation. Awareness efforts may also be launched to inform the public about safety measures near Airports.

The government has urged citizens and businesses to cooperate fully. Officials said public cooperation is essential to maintain safe operations at Airports across Punjab.
