KP Makes CNIC and Mobile Numbers Mandatory for OPD Slips

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has made it mandatory for patients to provide their CNIC number and mobile phone number for OPD slips at government hospitals across the province. The new policy has been enforced immediately in all district and tehsil hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the official notification, patients will no longer receive Outpatient Department (OPD) slips without proper identification details. For children and minors, hospitals will require the CNIC number of a parent or guardian.

Officials said the new step aims to improve transparency in the public healthcare system. The department believes digital records will help hospitals maintain accurate patient information. Authorities also expect better follow-up treatment through the updated registration process.

The Health Department said fake or anonymous registrations have created several issues in hospitals. The new system is expected to reduce misuse of government medical facilities. It may also help decrease overcrowding in busy hospitals across KP.

Officials explained that proper patient records are important for effective healthcare planning. The digital system can help doctors review medical history quickly. It may also support disease monitoring and future public health programs in KP.

The department has also issued another important instruction for government hospitals. All health centers must display updated medicine lists on notice boards. These lists should be placed in visible areas for patients and visitors.

Authorities said the medicine display policy will improve public awareness. Patients will know which medicines are available at hospitals before visiting pharmacy counters. Officials hope this step will reduce delays and confusion inside hospitals.

The notification directed medical superintendents and hospital staff to follow the instructions strictly. The department warned that negligence or non-compliance will lead to disciplinary action under the Efficiency and Discipline Rules.

The health minister has ordered immediate implementation of the policy across KP. Officials believe the move will strengthen hospital management and improve services for genuine patients. The government also expects better accountability through the digital registration process.
