Met Office Rejects Reports of Heat Burst and Super El Niño in Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has rejected reports of a Heat Burst in the country. It also denied claims of a weather system called Super El Niño.

Officials said such reports circulating on social media are false. They also warned people against believing unverified information.

The department clarified that no Heat Burst event is currently affecting Pakistan. It added that the ongoing hot weather is normal for this time of year.

Authorities said the current conditions are part of a routine seasonal heat pattern. They urged the public to follow only official weather updates.

The Met Office also confirmed that any unusual weather activity will be forecast in advance. It said there is no immediate threat of a Heat Burst or similar event.

Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures due to rising temperatures. The heat is expected to continue in the coming days.

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department issued a heatwave alert for many parts of the country. The warning mainly covers plains and southern regions.

Officials said both the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) are currently in a neutral phase.

Despite this, temperatures are expected to rise significantly in several areas. Southern Punjab, upper Sindh, and Balochistan are likely to be most affected.

The department warned that temperatures could increase by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal levels.

In plain areas, mercury levels may reach between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius. This increases the risk of heat-related health problems.

Experts have advised people to avoid outdoor activity during peak heat hours. They also recommend drinking plenty of water and staying in shaded areas.

Officials stressed that there is no confirmed Heat Burst event in Pakistan. They said all current heat conditions are part of seasonal weather trends.
