A man was reportedly robbed of Digital Currency worth $8,600 near Karachi airport in a troubling incident that highlights rising concerns over financial safety. The attackers also took his mobile phone, laptop, and other personal belongings before fleeing.
According to the victim’s father, the incident took place late Wednesday night. His son had left home to travel to Lahore using an online taxi service. During the journey, the driver stopped at a petrol station, where four armed men approached the vehicle.
The suspects forced the victim into their double-cabin vehicle and drove away. The victim was held for more than an hour. During this time, the attackers gained access to his accounts and transferred Digital Currency amounting to $8,600.
Authorities believe the suspects had planned the robbery carefully. They appeared to have knowledge of how to access and transfer Digital Currency, raising concerns about the misuse of technology in criminal activities. The victim was also assaulted during the incident.
After completing the robbery, the suspects abandoned the victim in the Korangi area. They escaped with his valuables, including his electronic devices. The victim later managed to contact his family and inform them about the incident.
The victim’s father stated that no formal complaint has yet been registered at the Airport Police Station. It remains unclear whether the family will proceed with legal action. Police officials have not released an official statement so far.
