Sindh Introduces Early Salary and Pension Payment System

The Sindh government has unveiled a new payment system under which salaries, pensions, and other financial dues will be disbursed before the start of each month. Officials described the move as one of the most significant administrative reforms in recent years, aimed at eliminating payment delays and providing financial relief to government employees and pensioners.

The decision was taken in coordination with the Accountant General (AG) Sindh. Under the newly approved schedule, government employees will receive their monthly salaries on the 25th of every month instead of the traditional payment date of the 1st. Pension payments will be made on the 26th, while supplementary payroll payments will be released on the 29th.

According to the revised system, payments related to the General Provident Fund (GP Fund) and other miscellaneous claims will be processed between the 6th and 16th of each month. Authorities have also stated that all remaining dues are expected to be cleared by the 20th, ensuring a more predictable payment cycle for beneficiaries.

The Accountant General Sindh has formally informed all provincial departments, secretaries, and heads of institutions about the new arrangements. Departments have been directed to submit payroll data well in advance and complete salary processing ahead of the scheduled payment dates to avoid technical or administrative delays.

For years, government employees and pensioners have complained about delays that often resulted in salaries and pensions reaching bank accounts several days after the official payment date. Such delays, caused by late payroll submissions and increased banking activity at the beginning of each month, created financial difficulties for many households across the province.

Officials believe the new system will help employees manage their finances more effectively, particularly at a time when inflation continues to place pressure on household budgets. The reform is also expected to reduce congestion in the banking sector by spreading salary and pension transactions throughout the month instead of concentrating them in the first week. While the initiative has received a positive response from employees and pensioners, its long-term success will depend on the ability of provincial departments to meet the new deadlines and ensure timely submission of payroll records.
