The Punjab Agriculture Department has urged farmers to repay their loans under the Kisan Card scheme on time. Officials say timely payments are necessary to remain eligible for future financial support and rewards.
According to an official spokesperson, the recovery process for the third phase of the program started on April 16, 2026. Farmers who clear their dues quickly will receive the next installment of interest-free loans within 24 hours. This fast processing aims to support farmers during the ongoing agricultural season.
Authorities have set April 25, 2026, as the final deadline for repayments. Farmers who meet this deadline will continue to benefit from the Kisan Card scheme without interruption. Missing the deadline may affect their eligibility for future financing.
Officials also announced an incentive program for those who pay on time. Farmers who clear their outstanding amounts before the deadline will be entered into a lucky draw. Thousands of prizes, worth millions of rupees, will be distributed among successful participants. This step is designed to encourage timely repayment behavior.
The government introduced the Kisan Card initiative to provide easy and interest-free loans to farmers. The program aims to reduce financial pressure and improve agricultural productivity. It also helps farmers manage input costs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
Officials believe that timely repayments will strengthen the system. It will ensure that funds remain available for other farmers as well. The initiative also promotes financial discipline within the farming community.
