Authorities in Pakistan have taken action against several Beauty Creams after serious safety concerns were identified. These products, widely used for skin brightening and smoothness, are now under scrutiny due to the presence of harmful substances.
According to the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority, licenses of six Beauty Creams have been suspended. The decision followed routine inspections that revealed violations of national safety standards. Officials said the products failed to meet the required guidelines for cosmetic safety.
The issue was confirmed by Khalid Hussain Magsi. He stated that the affected creams did not comply with Pakistan Standard Specification 3228:2025. This standard sets safety limits for cosmetic products to protect consumers.
Laboratory testing was conducted by the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The results showed the presence of toxic substances such as mercury and arsenic. In addition, microbiological contamination was detected in some samples.
Experts warn that such Beauty Creams can pose serious health risks. Mercury is sometimes used to lighten skin by reducing melanin production. However, long-term use can damage the skin and cause irritation. It may also lead to uneven skin tone and sensitivity.
Arsenic, another hazardous element found in the products, is highly toxic. Even small amounts can be harmful over time. Health specialists say these substances can enter the body through the skin. This raises concerns about deeper health issues, including kidney problems and neurological effects.
Authorities have now banned the production and sale of the affected Beauty Creams. The ban will remain in place until the products meet safety requirements. Officials are also conducting market checks to remove unsafe items from stores.
The move has raised awareness about the safety of cosmetic products. Many consumers rely on such creams for quick results. However, experts stress the importance of checking product quality before use.
Officials have advised the public to be cautious when buying skincare items. Consumers are encouraged to choose products that meet approved standards. This can help reduce the risk of exposure to harmful ingredients.
