Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza remained unharmed after another attack targeted his academy in Jhelum, once again putting his security under the spotlight.
Authorities said Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was the intended target, but the armed attacker failed to enter the premises. The suspect reportedly arrived with a pistol, positioned himself outside the lecture venue, and suddenly opened fire toward the academy.
Security personnel assigned to Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza reacted swiftly, returning fire and killing the attacker before he could cause further damage. Their quick response prevented a potentially more serious situation.
During the gunfire, one member of Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza’s security team was injured. A police constable also sustained a gunshot wound to his foot and was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where his condition was reported stable and out of danger.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, who has faced threats in the past. Police stated that security was already in place, but additional measures and reinforcements will now be deployed to enhance protection.
Investigators are working to identify the attacker, with support expected from National Database and Registration Authority.
In previous instances, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza had faced detentions and restrictions over certain remarks, amid concerns they could lead to unrest, adding further context to this latest attack.
