Karachi Prepares for Weekend Rain and Thunderstorms

Karachi, the capital of Sindh, is expected to receive rain and thunderstorms as a western disturbance influences central and southern regions of the country, with its intensity likely increasing from Friday night.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Karachi and several parts of Sindh may experience showers and thunderstorms on Saturday due to a westerly weather system currently affecting the region. The system is entering through southwestern Balochistan and is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorm activity across multiple districts.

Weather conditions in Karachi are forecast to remain mostly sunny on Friday, with daytime temperatures ranging between 32°C and 34°C, while nighttime temperatures may hover around 24°C. Humidity could reach as high as 76% during the day before easing to approximately 45–55% by evening. Winds are expected to shift from northwesterly to westerly or southwesterly directions.

On Saturday, the weather is likely to turn partly cloudy, with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to stay relatively stable, with highs between 31°C and 33°C and lows between 22°C and 24°C. Humidity levels may remain high during the day, ranging from 75–85%, before dropping to 55–65% later.

By Sunday, rainfall is not expected, though increased cloud cover may keep temperatures slightly lower, between 30°C and 32°C. Humidity is also likely to decrease further, while westerly to southwesterly winds persist throughout the weekend.

Other districts, including Jamshoro, Dadu, Sukkur, and Tharparkar, may also receive rainfall on Saturday. The PMD has warned that strong winds, lightning, and possible hail could damage weak structures, solar panels, and crops, urging farmers to take necessary precautions.
