Nawaz Sharif Announces Major Development Plans for Azad Kashmir

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has announced a series of development plans for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) during an election rally in Muzaffarabad.

Addressing party supporters on Tuesday, Nawaz Sharif said his party would focus on improving infrastructure, healthcare, transportation, and public services if it wins the upcoming elections.

Speaking alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, he said he has a strong connection with the people of Azad Kashmir and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He added that he wants to personally contribute to the region’s development.

During his speech, Nawaz Sharif made a light-hearted statement and said that if PML-N wins the AJK elections, he would ask Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to appoint him as the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.

He said he wanted to personally oversee the transformation of the region and complete development projects for the benefit of local residents.

The former prime minister announced an ambitious plan to increase the budget of Azad Kashmir by ten times if his party comes into power. He said the region deserves the same level of progress and facilities available in Punjab.

Nawaz Sharif questioned why Muzaffarabad still lacks a motorway despite its importance as the capital city of Azad Kashmir. He said the city should become one of Pakistan’s leading urban centers.

He proposed building a modern motorway along the Jhelum River. According to him, the project would improve connectivity, promote tourism, and create new opportunities for trade and economic activity.

While discussing development in Punjab, Nawaz Sharif said the same approach should be adopted in Azad Kashmir. He said people in the region should benefit from better infrastructure and improved public facilities.

The PML-N leader also announced several public welfare measures during the rally. He said 10 green buses would be introduced in Muzaffarabad to improve the city’s public transport system.

He further announced that 15 mobile hospitals would be launched in different parts of Azad Kashmir. The initiative aims to improve healthcare access, especially in remote areas.

Nawaz Sharif also promised to personally monitor development activities if PML-N forms the government in the region. He said he would visit Azad Kashmir every three months to review projects and check progress.

He stated that regular visits would help ensure the implementation of the party’s election manifesto and completion of promised initiatives.
