The Pakistani Rupee continued its positive momentum on Friday, closing higher against the US Dollar for the 127th consecutive day. The rupee also gained against several other major international currencies during the trading session.
The PKR closed at 279.17, registering a gain of three paisas against the US Dollar. Analysts say the Pakistani Rupee is benefiting from global geo-economic developments, while Western economies face pressures amid ongoing regional conflicts. Experts also noted that the rupee may see further correction if oil futures adjust in the coming week.
Against regional currencies, the Pakistani Rupee gained one paisa each against the UAE Dirham and the Saudi Riyal. The rupee showed stronger gains against European and Commonwealth currencies, rising 76 paisas against the British Pound and 91 paisas against the Euro.
The rupee also strengthened by Rs. 1.5 against the Australian Dollar and 32 paisas against the Canadian Dollar. Other currencies such as the Malaysian Ringgit and the Chinese Yuan saw modest appreciation in PKR terms.
