Karachi Tremors Spark Panic Earthquake Hits City

Residents across several neighbourhoods of Karachi were gripped by fear on Friday after earthquake tremors shook parts of the city, forcing people to rush out of homes, offices, and workplaces in panic.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake measured 4.0 in magnitude and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres. Officials stated that the epicentre was located around 100 kilometres south of Karachi.

Tremors were felt in multiple areas including Landhi, Khurramabad, Malir, and Korangi, where residents quickly evacuated buildings as a precaution. Many people gathered in open spaces amid fears of aftershocks.

Despite the panic caused by the shaking, authorities confirmed that there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage. Emergency services remained on alert while monitoring the situation.

The latest tremor has renewed concerns about increasing seismic activity in Karachi. The coastal megacity has experienced several minor earthquakes in recent months, raising anxiety among residents and prompting discussions about preparedness.

Only a few days earlier, another earthquake measuring 3.2 magnitude struck parts of Karachi, including Malir, at a depth of approximately 35 kilometres, highlighting ongoing geological movement in the region.
