In the third fixture of the Super Eight round, South Africa national cricket team secured a commanding 76-run victory over India national cricket team. The 43rd match of the tournament, held in Ahmedabad, saw India fall short while chasing a challenging target of 188. The batting side was bowled out for 111 runs in the 19th over, unable to build lasting partnerships under pressure.
Shivam Dube was India’s highest scorer with 42 runs, while Hardik Pandya and captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 18 runs each. Abhishek Sharma added 15, and Washington Sundar managed 11. The remaining batting lineup struggled significantly, with Tilak Varma, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Ishan Kishan, and Jasprit Bumrah failing to make notable contributions.
South Africa’s bowling attack delivered an impressive performance. Marco Jansen led the charge with four wickets, while Keshav Maharaj picked up three. Corbin Bosch claimed two wickets, and skipper Aiden Markram added one to his tally, effectively dismantling India’s batting order.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa posted a competitive total of 187 for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted overs. David Miller played a key innings, scoring 63 runs to anchor the batting effort. Dewald Brevis supported well with 45 runs, while Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten on 44. Ryan Rickelton, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, and Marco Jansen chipped in with smaller contributions.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah claimed three wickets, Arshdeep Singh took two, and Varun Chakravarthy along with Shivam Dube grabbed one wicket each. Despite early breakthroughs, India could not contain South Africa’s momentum, ultimately suffering a heavy defeat.
