Pakistan’s Ambassador Responds to UAE Visa Suspension Rumors

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Shafqat Ali Khan, has clarified that reports claiming the suspension of 48-hour and 96-hour transit visas for Pakistani nationals are false.

The rumors emerged after a screenshot circulated on social media. The image, allegedly from a VFS Global page linked to Emirates, claimed UAE immigration had temporarily stopped short-term transit visas for Pakistani travelers. It also advised applicants not to apply under those categories.

The screenshot caused confusion and concern among Pakistanis planning short stopovers in the UAE. Travelers were worried that their transit plans could be affected. In response, Pakistan’s Ambassador addressed the media, calling the reports “not true” and urging travelers not to rely on unverified social media posts.

According to UAE guidelines, 48-hour and 96-hour transit visas are sponsored by UAE-based airlines such as Emirates and Etihad Airways. These visas are required for travelers who are not eligible for visa-on-arrival or visa-free entry and wish to leave the airport during a layover. Approval for these visas must be obtained before arrival in the UAE.

Pakistan’s Ambassador emphasized that the transit visa process for Pakistani nationals remains fully operational. Travelers can continue to apply through official airline channels and approved visa platforms. The clarification is intended to prevent misinformation and reassure travelers about short-term travel options in the UAE.

The UAE continues to welcome Pakistani visitors for business, tourism, and transit purposes. Officials encourage travelers to check official airline websites or UAE immigration portals for accurate visa information.
