PFF Launches U-17 Championship to Revive Football

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has officially announced the launch of the National Under-17 Championship, marking a major step toward reviving and restructuring domestic football across the country.

The new tournament will feature regional teams from different parts of Pakistan competing at the Under-17 level for national recognition and titles. Officials say the event is designed to strengthen the football structure at the grassroots level.

PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani said the championship is the first key step in building a broader domestic competition calendar. He emphasized that young players need a proper and structured pathway to develop their talent and reach higher levels of the sport.

He added that the federation is committed to creating a sustainable system where football development begins from the youth level and progresses toward national representation through organized competitions.

PFF Chief Operating Officer Shahid Niaz Khokhar also highlighted the importance of youth tournaments, saying Pakistan’s football future depends on the quality and consistency of its grassroots and junior-level competitions.

The Under-17 Championship will also serve as a key selection platform for Pakistan’s national squad ahead of the SAFF Under-17 Championship, which Pakistan is set to host, further increasing its importance in the country’s football development plan.
