Gujranwala Police Dismiss 29 Officials Over Corruption and Drugs

Dr. Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan, the City Police Officer of Gujranwala, has reportedly dismissed 29 police officials for alleged involvement in drug trafficking, corruption, and aiding criminals, part of a wider internal accountability drive to strengthen law enforcement integrity.

Police sources said 16 personnel were removed for maintaining links with drug dealers, while the remaining 13 officials faced dismissal for corruption, misconduct, or participation in criminal activities. The action follows thorough departmental inquiries and examination of evidence.

The CPO emphasized that police operations against drug traffickers and criminal networks continue alongside strict internal accountability measures. He reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, warning that any officer found aiding criminals would not be spared.

In a related move, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against several officers accused of taking bribes from a habitual drug dealer and downgrading charges instead of filing proper narcotics cases. A charge sheet has been issued, and an inquiry officer has been directed to submit a report within seven days.

Authorities confirmed that the crackdown is ongoing, and any personnel involved in illegal activities or corruption within the force will face strict action. Officials stressed that maintaining public trust and operational integrity remains a top priority for the Gujranwala police.
