Balochistan Introduces Health Insurance for Government Employees

The Balochistan government is preparing to introduce a major health insurance program for public sector employees, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced during a high-level review meeting in Quetta.

The meeting also examined progress on the insurance initiative and ongoing rehabilitation work at Civil Hospital Quetta and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital. Senior provincial officials, including ministers and secretaries from the health, finance, and planning departments, attended the session.

Health Secretary Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Panezai briefed participants on the implementation plan for the scheme. CM Bugti directed authorities to complete preparations for the official launch scheduled for March 7, 2026.

Under this new policy, every government employee will be entitled to medical coverage of up to Rs1 million at leading hospitals across the country. The chief minister highlighted that the scheme is designed to ease the financial burden on employees and ensure prompt access to quality healthcare services.

Bugti also instructed the Health Department to accelerate rehabilitation work at the two key hospitals in Quetta and set up a dedicated monitoring system to oversee restoration efforts. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and providing improved medical access for government employees across the province.
