This Motorway Section Is Closed Due to Maintenance Work

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have announced the temporary closure of a key section of the motorway due to ongoing maintenance work on a high-voltage electricity transmission line. The affected stretch runs from the Iqbalabad/Rahim Yar Khan Interchange at kilometer 559 to Rohri at kilometer 386, disrupting traffic movement on an important intercity route.

According to the motorway police, the closure applies to all types of traffic, including private vehicles, public transport, and commercial freight. The decision was taken to ensure public safety during repair and maintenance work being carried out on the transmission line, which passes close to the motorway infrastructure and poses potential risks if traffic is allowed to continue.

Authorities said the maintenance work is essential to prevent future technical faults and ensure the safe operation of the power transmission system. Due to the nature of the work, it was not possible to keep the motorway partially open, leading to a complete shutdown of the affected section for the duration of the repairs.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes until the work is completed and the motorway is reopened for traffic. The NHMP urged drivers to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time, and remain patient during the disruption. Traffic police personnel have been deployed in surrounding areas to assist commuters and guide them toward designated detours.

The motorway police also emphasized the importance of following traffic signs and instructions issued by law enforcement officers. Drivers have been cautioned against using unauthorized routes or attempting to bypass barriers, as this could lead to accidents or legal action.

In a public statement, the NHMP apologized for the inconvenience caused to travelers and transporters, acknowledging that the closure may affect daily commuters as well as long-distance travelers. Officials reassured the public that the motorway would be reopened as soon as the maintenance work is safely completed.

The motorway police further advised travelers to stay updated through official NHMP channels for the latest information regarding traffic conditions and reopening timelines. Commuters were encouraged to check road status before starting their journey to avoid delays and ensure a smoother travel experience.
