Want to Study Abroad HEC Just Announced a New Scholarship Opportunity

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan has announced new scholarship opportunities at the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) for international students. The scholarships are available for the 2026 academic intake and offer financial support for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

According to the HEC, the scholarship program includes full and partial tuition awards for eligible Bachelor’s students. Separate tuition discounts are also available for selected Master’s students, GUtech alumni, and employees of organizations participating in the university’s partnership program.

GUtech is offering 10 Undergraduate Excellence Scholarships that will cover 100% of tuition fees for four years. Applicants must have at least 95% marks in Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification to be considered.

The university is also offering 20 Undergraduate Merit Scholarships. These awards will cover 50% of tuition fees. Students must have at least 90% marks in Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification to qualify.

International Bachelor’s students may also apply for scholarships covering up to 20% of tuition fees. Existing self-funded students at GUtech may become eligible for DAAD scholarships, which can cover around 50% of tuition fees after completing their first academic year.

For postgraduate applicants, GUtech graduates, including international alumni, can receive a 50% tuition discount when enrolling in an eligible Master’s program.

Employees applying through organizations that are part of the GUtech Preferred Partners Programme may receive a tuition waiver of up to 30%. The discount can increase to 50% if three or more employees from the same organization join a Master’s program during the same admission cycle.

The HEC said the undergraduate scholarships are open to new students of all nationalities who qualify for direct admission and are not already receiving another scholarship.

To qualify for the full scholarship, applicants must have at least 95% in Grade 12, 37 International Baccalaureate points, two A* grades at A-Level, or 95% under the CBSE system.

For the 50% merit scholarship, applicants need at least 90% in Grade 12, 36 IB points, two A grades at A-Level, or 90% under CBSE.

Students receiving Excellence or Merit Scholarships must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 throughout their studies.

English is the main language of instruction at GUtech. Direct admission generally requires an IELTS Academic score of 6.0, a TOEFL iBT score of 76, or a Duolingo English Test score of 110. Applicants must also meet the academic requirements of their chosen degree program.

The deadline for the Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship, Undergraduate Merit Scholarship, and International Student Scholarship is September 1, 2026. Scholarship results are expected by 5:00 PM on September 10, 2026.
