Pakistan Launches Online Visa system for 192 Countries

Pakistan has formally introduced a modern visa facilitation system, allowing citizens of 192 countries to apply online, while travelers from 120 countries can now benefit from a visa-on-arrival facility. The move marks a major step toward making travel to Pakistan easier and more accessible for international visitors.

The announcement was made by Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Investment, during the Sustainable Tourism Forum and Expo. The event was jointly organized by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, and focused on showcasing Pakistan’s evolving tourism and investment environment.

Under the newly launched digital visa framework, foreign nationals can complete the entire application process online, removing the need to physically visit Pakistani embassies or consulates. Officials said the initiative is aimed at reducing delays, improving transparency, and ensuring a smoother experience for travelers planning to visit the country.

Sheikh noted that the updated visa system is expected to play a key role in boosting international tourism by making it easier for visitors to explore Pakistan’s diverse natural beauty, historical landmarks, and cultural heritage. From mountain ranges and coastal areas to ancient civilizations and vibrant cities, easier access is expected to attract a wider range of tourists.

The reforms are part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to strengthen economic growth through tourism and foreign investment. By streamlining the visa process, the government hopes to encourage global investors, entrepreneurs, and business travelers to consider Pakistan as a viable destination for opportunities and partnerships.

Sheikh further emphasized that tourism is closely linked to economic development, as it supports trade, generates employment, and contributes significantly to the national GDP. He added that improving travel access through simplified visa policies reflects Pakistan’s commitment to openness, modernization, and global connectivity.

Overall, the new visa initiative is being viewed as a positive and forward-looking measure that could enhance Pakistan’s global image, stimulate tourism inflows, and support long-term economic progress.
