KP Chief Minister Faces Criticism from Talal Chaudhry Over Terrorism

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has strongly criticized Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over his vague statements on terrorism.

Addressing a press conference, Talal Chaudhry accused the KP CM of failing to take concrete security measures. He said that unclear statements on terrorism create confusion and undermine public confidence.

Chaudhry highlighted that despite visiting three provinces, the chief minister did not visit the homes of martyred citizens. He also alleged that the KP government avoided installing Safe City cameras and has not established a forensic laboratory.

“Whether it is a chief minister or any official, ambiguous statements are unacceptable,” Talal Chaudhry said, expressing frustration over the province’s ongoing security situation.

He further claimed that the KP government deliberately creates confusion regarding terrorism. Talal Chaudhry noted that, over the past 11 years, no major PTI leader had been targeted, while leaders of other political parties faced attacks for openly opposing terrorists.

Chaudhry also criticized the KP government spokesperson for not clearly condemning terrorism or supporting security forces. He said, “Ask your own inspector general where terrorist training camps are operating.”

Referring to the chief minister’s recent street campaign, Talal Chaudhry said remarks related to national interest were irresponsible. He particularly criticized Afridi’s statement suggesting Pakistan should provide evidence if Afghanistan is involved in terrorism. Chaudhry added that such comments create further ambiguity.

“There is a clear reluctance to even call terrorists by their name,” Talal Chaudhry noted.

He clarified that the federal government does not oppose political activity and has no intention of stopping it. Talal Chaudhry highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has visited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa several times but expressed concern that the chief minister often misses counter-terrorism meetings.
