15 New Initiatives Unveiled for Overseas Pakistanis

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]On his final day as Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif unveiled an incentive package tailored for overseas Pakistanis, aiming to enhance the quality of services and support they receive.

In a tweet, Shehbaz Sharif explained that the purpose of this package is to strengthen the connection between overseas Pakistanis and their homeland, while also simplifying their interactions with various governmental bodies.

The initiatives included in the package are as follows:

Setting up dedicated hotlines under the Chief Secretaries in all provinces and the Chief Commissioner in Islamabad to address property-related concerns of Overseas Pakistanis.

Establishment of specialized courts in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and all provinces of Pakistan to expedite the resolution of property matters for Overseas Pakistanis.

Allocating a 10% quota for Overseas Pakistanis in all public sector housing schemes, along with an additional 5% discount for payments conducted through foreign currency and the formal banking channel.

Replicating the successful model of the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission (POPC) in other provinces to provide efficient services to Overseas Pakistanis.

Introduction of dedicated immigration counters at all international airports across the country to facilitate and acknowledge the needs of Overseas Pakistanis.

Recognition and awards for the Top Ten remitters among Overseas Pakistanis, based on data compiled by the State Bank of Pakistan.

Establishment of a Hall of Fame within Pakistan Missions abroad to honor outstanding overseas Pakistanis for their significant contributions and achievements.

Introduction of specialized National Saving Schemes for Overseas Pakistanis by the Central Directorate of National Savings, featuring attractive interest rates.

Expansion of NADRA and passport facilitation counters in Pakistani Embassies and Missions abroad.

Implementation of an automated process for removing passports from the blacklist after a designated period.

Enhancement and streamlining of the online attestation process for documents by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

Establishment of camp offices by MOFA in areas of Pakistan with a significant overseas Pakistani population to facilitate document attestation and related services.

Introduction of online biometric verification for Overseas Pakistanis, serving purposes such as pension, bank accounts, and property transactions.

Interconnecting NADRA’s system with Union Councils to simplify the issuance of marriage, divorce, birth, and death certificates for Overseas Pakistanis.

Reservation of a 5% quota in public sector higher education institutions for the children of overseas Pakistanis, complemented by need-based and merit scholarships for expatriate Pakistani children.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
