The low turnout has prompted authorities to seek alternative measures for increased participation. On Saturday, only 24,446 applications were received under the official regular scheme, with a modest 174 applications for the sponsorship scheme.
To encourage more applications, the Ministry of Religious Affairs is contemplating extending the submission period by 7 to 10 days. There are indications that the 5-year ban on performing Hajj again might be lifted.

Additionally, the Ministry is exploring the possibility of easing permissions for women to perform Hajj without a male guardian (Muharram), which could signify a positive shift in the inclusivity of the Hajj policy.
