This decision follows reports of many visitors from these countries overstaying their visas and engaging in unauthorized work within the UAE.

A month earlier, Nigeria had announced that its citizens under the age of 40 would not be granted tourist visas for the UAE. This was prompted by changes in the UAE’s visa regulations, which restricted tourist visas for younger Nigerians unless they were joining family members in the UAE.

The complete list of 20 African countries affected by the ban includes:

Ghana

Sierra Leone

Sudan

Cameroon

Nigeria

Liberia

Burundi

Republic of Guinea

Gambia

Togo

Democratic Republic of Congo

Senegal

Benin

Ivory Coast

Congo

Rwanda

Burkina Faso

Guinea Bissau

Comoros

Uganda

It’s worth noting that this is not the first instance of African countries facing travel restrictions to Dubai. On December 29, 2021, Emirates, a prominent Dubai-based airline, prohibited passengers from eight African nations from traveling to or transiting through Dubai due to concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19. This list included countries such as Ghana, Uganda, and Kenya.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
