Traffic Police Launch Awareness Campaign on Motorcycle Indicators in Punjab

The Traffic Police in Punjab has launched a public awareness campaign focused on motorcycle safety. The campaign urges riders to install and properly use indicators on their bikes.

Officials said the move is aimed at reducing road accidents and improving traffic discipline. The Traffic Police highlighted that missing indicators increase risks for both riders and other road users.

According to the campaign details, riding a motorcycle without functional indicators can lead to a fine of Rs. 2,000. However, installing indicators costs around Rs. 400, making it a cheaper and safer option for riders.

The awareness message also explains the importance of using indicators correctly. It helps other drivers understand lane changes and turning movements. This improves road safety and reduces confusion on busy streets.

The Traffic Police added that proper use of indicators supports better lane discipline. It also helps maintain smoother traffic flow in congested areas.

Officials have advised all motorcyclists to ensure their vehicles are properly equipped. They stressed that following traffic rules can prevent penalties and accidents.

This campaign comes shortly after the Punjab Assembly approved changes to traffic fines. Under the revised rules, some motorcycle fines have been reduced from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 1,000.

The maximum fine has been capped at Rs. 2,000 under the new system. Fines for cars and jeeps have also been reduced for minor violations.

Despite the reduction in penalties, the Traffic Police confirmed that enforcement will remain strict. Officials said the focus will stay on improving road discipline and reducing accidents across the province.

They added that awareness and enforcement must work together. The goal is to encourage responsible driving habits among all road users.

The Traffic Police also encouraged citizens to cooperate with safety campaigns. They said public participation is key to building safer roads and reducing traffic-related risks.
